There are times when it is possible to freely explore different solutions to a given challenge; in this case, it was requested to
design a music player, without indicating further context or conditions.
This is how I began to think about the different devices where the requested design could be applied: a Smarthphone, TV, PC, Smartmirror, Smartwatch, even a voice assistant or a neural interface, that is, there were endless possibilities. Finally , I decided to develop it for a
Smartwatch, due to the maturation that this device denoted since the presentation of the Apple Watch in 2014.
Once the device to be worked on had been identified, another important question arose:
How could the best music player experience be offered on a small screen? For this, it was of the utmost importance to recognize that the interface was not only what can be seen on the screen, but that it is associated with its hardware, this allowed the interactions to be defined as follows:
· Longpress to add favorites
· Use the edge to move forward and backward
· Rotate the crown to control the volume
The rest of the interactions can be seen here. Finally, the design of the interface was completed based on Google's wearable guides, and after several revisions, it was possible to define the
dynamic primary color, which would represent the predominant color on the cover of each track to be played.
